ÆGES from Los Angeles, California release their third album, “Weightless”, via Another Century, knowing it’s more or less a debut on the European market as their previous records came out on a small US label. But the band’s brilliant take on blending influences from Helmet (“Betty”), Soundgarden, Quicksand, Queens Of The Stone Age or Cave In has already caused quite a stir in the States and should conquer hearts and minds in Europe with its melancholic, riff-driven alternative metal rather quickly. Produced by Bob Marlette (Black Sabbath, Shinedown, Rob Zombie, Seether), “Weightless” shines with 90’s elements transferred into the here and now, making it an opus also highly recommended to fans of Mastodon, Torche or later Baroness.
